Major Signs of the Day of Judgment as Told in Quran and Hadith

When will the Day of Judgment come? This is a question that has been circulating in the human mind for centuries. In the Qur’an and Hadith, clear signs and indications have been mentioned regarding this, which we can see in today’s era.

When will the Day of Judgment come, when will the end of the world be — this is the question that has been coming into our minds for years. In today’s article, we will try to find the answer to this question and talk about whether there is any Hadith or Quranic verse in which it is mentioned when the Day of Judgment will come. In addition, we will talk about the signs of the Day of Judgment that have been mentioned — the major signs that come in the Hadiths, we will explain them clearly. Friends, this question comes into every human’s mind: when will the Day of Judgment finally come, how much time is left for it to arrive, and what will it be like? So let’s talk about it. In today’s era, many signs of the Day of Judgment have occurred, about which the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) told us 1400 years ago. Friends, the number of these signs is very high, but in this article, we will talk about six important signs about which the Messenger of Allah informed us. The first sign is:

The spread of immorality.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that the Day of Judgment will not come until immorality and shamelessness become widespread (Sunan Ibn Majah). Friends, in this Hadith, we can clearly see that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said that one of the most important signs of the Day of Judgment is that before it, immorality and shamelessness will become common in the world. People will be proud of it, and surprisingly we can see that this is happening in our time. Today, immorality and shamelessness are common on social media. In addition, it has become easily accessible to everyone — that is, in the form of mobile phones — because mobile phones are present in every household, and social media is used on them. This proves that the sign of immorality and shamelessness mentioned by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is clearly visible in our era and is visible everywhere. Earlier, this was only seen in urban areas, but slowly, every region is feeling its effect.

Competition to build tall buildings.

Friends, the meaning of a Hadith is something like this: once the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was sitting with his companions when a man came wearing white clothes. No one in Arabia had seen him before. He came straight through the companions and sat in front of the Messenger of Allah and began to ask questions. Among the questions he asked was this: O Prophet, tell me when will the Day of Judgment come? To this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) first replied, “Allah knows better than me.” Then when the man insisted, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The Day of Judgment will not come until the Bedouins of Arabia compete with each other in building tall buildings.”

Friends, these are the words of the Messenger of Allah. He said that a time will come when the shepherds of Arabia — these Bedouins — will compete with each other in constructing tall buildings. Friends, we can clearly see this sign of the Day of Judgment being fulfilled today. Friends, you must have heard about Burj Khalifa. In competition with it, Saudi Arabia has decided to build Jeddah Tower. In addition, Saudi Arabia has tried to build many buildings in competition with Burj Khalifa but has not succeeded. However, it has made a great effort with Jeddah Tower. Besides that, there are many such buildings in Dubai that are very tall, and other countries have tried to compete with them. And you will be surprised to know that the people competing in building these buildings today are the same Bedouins about whom the Messenger of Allah mentioned. They belong to the families of those Bedouins. Today they have become so rich that they are competing in building structures among themselves.

Widespread music and singing.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Some people from my Ummah will come who will consider fornication, alcohol, and music to be lawful.” Friends, if we look today, music and singing have become common everywhere — especially among Muslims who play music as if it is lawful for them. Today, in every wedding ceremony, such songs are played that are shameful to hear, and they make the heart tremble. In addition, today we can see that almost everyone has earphones in their ears, and music is common on YouTube, affecting our women and children. This is a major sign that is being fulfilled, and it is related to our era.

Scholars chasing the world.

Scholars running after worldly gain is also one of the major signs of the Day of Judgment. As we know, the job of scholars is to guide people, not to pursue worldly desires. They should reform people in every possible way and bring them to the right path, and in this, they should not use worldly temptations. The pursuit of worldly things makes a person helpless and puts him on the wrong path. Today, we can see that many scholars in our Ummah have gone astray. They are trying all day to improve their lives and gain more worldly wealth. They have discovered ways that they consider lawful. Therefore, friends, the scholars’ pursuit of the world is also one of the major signs of the Day of Judgment.

Women being clothed yet naked.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Near the Day of Judgment, women will wear such clothes which, though they are wearing them, will still reveal their entire bodies.” Friends, we can see this today in the form of fashion designing. Under the name of fashion, such small and thin clothes have emerged that if women wear them, their entire bodies are visible. Nowadays, it has become a trend to see who wears the smallest clothes. Even in this, competitions are taking place — mostly due to movies — because our public, after watching movies and people on social media, gets influenced and desires to dress like them. And our ignorant elders and parents even buy these clothes for them.

Time passing quickly.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Near the Day of Judgment, time will shrink. A year will feel like a month, a month like a week, a week like a day.”

Time is passing so fast that we don’t even realize when day becomes night and night becomes day, or when years go by. Therefore, this too is an important sign of the Day of Judgment, about which the Messenger of Allah informed us 1400 years ago.
